Steven + Deborah’s Wedding and Korean Tea Ceremony at Summerour Studio

Some weddings never go out of style. You’ll be convinced I’m right after spending some time perusing a few of my favorite images taken at Steven and Deborah’s wedding. It was so pretty, it even got featured in The Knot print magazine! From the gorgeous setting of Summerour to the soft florals by Amy Osaba, this celebration was one to remember. Deborah’s California upbringing inspired the neutral tones, while the couple’s Korean heritage added the fun!

During cocktail hour, Deborah and Steven dressed in cultural outfits and celebrated with a traditional Paebaek Ceremony and Korean folk music. The entire hour was filled with laughter and cheering. This day was a perfect combination of everything beautiful about a wedding celebration and I can’t wait for you to experience it for yourself!

Steve and Deborah are both Korean, so they wanted to share their culture by featuring a Paebaek, a traditional Korean wedding ceremony. It was quite a treat for their diverse group of friends, as well as the older relatives who recalled their own weddings. Historically, Korean celebrations are extremely colorful and bright, so their attire, table decorations, and even the food, were displayed beautifully for their guests to enjoy.

One of my favorite parts of the ceremony was when chestnuts and jujubes were thrown by the parents for the bride and groom to catch.  According to tradition, it’s a foreshadowing of how many children the couple will have.
